Look at the photo above. Its a new special edition has been added to the UK range of the Lexus RX450h. Named the SE-I, the new RX450h hybrid crossover sports a host of accessories said to be suited for those “who love the great outdoors”.

Lexus RX 450h Special Edition gets roof rails and a rear bumper protect, plus front and rear under-run plates. Interior features of the package include a tough boot liner, claimed to be designed to cope with muddy boots, and a warm / cold storage box.

Lexus says it would cost buyers up to £1,500, but brought together for the new RX 450h SE-I Lifestyle they add just £499 to the on-the-road price of the crossover for a total of £48,899.

Look at the latest Wald International’s Black Bison tuning packages for Lexus RX350 and its RX450h hybrid version. The agressive cosmetic makeover includes a new front bumper with large air-inlets, matching side skirts, a new rear bumper that houses a diffuser, different treatment for the grille and a pair of twin tail pipes.

A Wald International’s roof spoiler and multispoke alloy wheels shod in chunkier rubber help complete the new aggressive look for the Japanese luxury SUV. Buyers can also upgrade the Lexus SUV with interior enhancements such as an alloy pedal set and specific floor mats.

The newest Lexus RX 350 will make its debut at the 75th annual Melbourne Motor Show in Australia. The Melbourne Motor Show runs from 27 February to 9 March at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The 2010 Lexus RX-350 is fitted with an upgraded 3.5-litre petrol V6 engine that develops 204 kW / 275HP and is mated to an electronically controlled, sequential-shift, six-speed transmission which replaces the five-speed automatic of the previous model. Along with the RX 350, the Lexus will also show its LF-A Roadster concept.

Lexus unveiled its Limited Edition and Executive Limited Edition of its RX400hs model. Beginning with the RX 400h Limited Edition that costs £35,995, it comes with luxury features including leather upholstery, heated electrically adjustable front seats, and the Lexus Multimedia system .

The RX400h Executive Limited Edition which is priced at £37,995, extends the standard equipment specification with electric tilt and slide sunroof, electrically adjustable steering wheel, memory settings for the driver’s seat, steering wheel and door mirrors, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, entry lighting system and a power tailgate.

Both new RX 400h special editions come with a two-year/20,000-mile servicing package. Included in the on-the-road price, this covers all routine vehicle servicing during the stated period, with a customer value of around £360.

Tech details are also thin on the ground, but the Japanese-market brochure makes word of the RX350 and the RX450h meaning that the latter may get a more powerful V6-hybrid drivetrain than the current RX400h.

The third-generation Lexus RX will break cover at the forthcoming Los Angeles Auto Show on 21 November with sales set to commence in the first half of 2009.

Lexus is planning a host of new models to help keep the momentum going. First up is the replacement for the RX crossover, but after this comes a host of new ‘F’ performance models including a production version of the LF-A supercar concept as well as a new entry-level model.

Lexus will expand its F range to include a performance version of the GS sedan and possibly the full-size LS limo.

In addition to the performance range, Lexus will add a model below the IS to rival the BMW 1-series and Audi A3 models but stated that it was still a few years away. In the meantime, Roca explained that Lexus will concentrate on its hybrid technology and is planning to add a hybrid option on every model as well as debut a new dedicated hybrid concept at next year’s Detroit Auto Show.

Next year will see the launch of the next-generation RX crossover, based on the LF-Xh concept, as well as a new coupe-cabrio version of the IS complete with a folding metal hardtop.

The LF-A supercar is destined for production and hinted at a 2011 launch date.
