Today spy photographers sent us a shot of a Lexus LS TMG Edition.

The spec sheet itself is from TMG, which is an acronym for Toyota Motorsports GmbH, the Japanese firm’s high-performance testing and development facility located in in Cologne, Germany.

The information sheet says that the car is named the Lexus LS TMG Edition and that it comes equipped with a 5.0-liter engine, but makes no word if it’s naturally aspirated or turbocharged, nor if it’s a V8 or an LFA-based V10.

What it does say is that the 5.0-liter unit maxes out at 9,000 rpm and that it delivers an output of 650-horses and a peak torque of 710Nm.

It adds that the car tips the scales at 2,070kg, rides on 20-inch wheels shod in massive tires size 295/35 up front and 345/30 at the rear, and that it completes the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 320km/h.

Lexus unveiled the revised 2010 model LS600h hybrid at the Auto Show in Frankfurt. The new long-wheelbase Lexus LS600h L receive a gentle facelift with mild cosmetic tweaks that differentiate them from the petrol models, updated equipment, a new ECO driving mode, more powerful brakes and a repackaging of the battery pack. The 2010 LS600h and LS600h L are distinguished visually mainly by a new four-bar grille and front bumper with redesigned air intakes and foglamps.

In the LS cabin the instrument panel has been redesigned and now includes a new full color, TFT LCD display and the upper air vents have been set apart from the instrumentation on the centre console. Furthermore, there’s a new navigation system and the EMV multi-display touch screen has large switches and rearranged layout for the audio controls while both front seats are equipped with new, inflator operated active headrests.

The hybrid system received the introduction of a new ECO mode, which modifies the throttle action and performance of the air conditioning system to support fuel-efficient driving, and the repackaging of the battery pack into two sections of six and 14 modules that has reduced its overall size and freed up more luggage space in the boot.

Lexus says that the Hybrid Drive system has also been revised to meet Euro V exhaust emissions standards, but with no change to the car’s performance with the 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine and 165kW electric motor producing a combined output of 439bhp and 520Nm of torque, giving a 0-100km/h acceleration in 6.3 seconds.

Already a favourite among CEOs in the city, the top of the range Lexus LS 600h L has been awarded chauffeur car of the year, by The Chauffeur magazine in the highly competitive £50,000 to £100,000 category.

Judged closely against the German flagship saloons from Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, Lexus won the top spot in the toughest category for the most popular vehicles chosen by the chauffeuring industry. Key factors behind the judges’ decision included the Lexus hybrid system which allowed for lower emission and competitive fuel economy, build quality, and the reclining and massaging rear seats which can adapt for shiatsu back and shoulder massages with varying intensity.

Also contributing to the award was the Lexus Chauffeur programme which offers unique finance packages, designated staff within the Lexus Centre network for sales and service, plus access to the loan of a PCO (Public Carriage Office) licenced Lexus enabling chauffeurs to continue working in the event of their own vehicle being off the road for any reason.

Paul Gibson, Editor of The Chauffeur magazine commented: “I am delighted to present this prestigious award to Lexus for its excellent LS 600h L, which easily fought off its rivals in this sector of the competition. The vehicle represents true luxury and gives the chauffeur everything he needs to carry out his job successfully.”

Andy Simpson, Lexus Manager for National, Corporate and Remarketing said, “We are delighted to win this award in such a competitive category. This helps to reinforce the significant benefits of Lexus hybrid drive for the business user whether as an individual car or vehicle fleet.”

A selection of Lexus cars including the LS 600h L will be on display at Chauffeur Drive 08 which takes place on 20 and 21 April at the Farnborough Five exhibition centre. For more information visit www.drive08.co.uk.

The ‘L’ signifies long wheel base over the standard LS 600h saloon and provides extra rear legroom and can also be specified with the rear seat relaxation package. This includes the massage functions mentioned above, independent rear DVD player, fixed centre console with removable table and body temperature sensing climate control.

Lexus is planning a host of new models to help keep the momentum going. First up is the replacement for the RX crossover, but after this comes a host of new ‘F’ performance models including a production version of the LF-A supercar concept as well as a new entry-level model.

Lexus will expand its F range to include a performance version of the GS sedan and possibly the full-size LS limo.

In addition to the performance range, Lexus will add a model below the IS to rival the BMW 1-series and Audi A3 models but stated that it was still a few years away. In the meantime, Roca explained that Lexus will concentrate on its hybrid technology and is planning to add a hybrid option on every model as well as debut a new dedicated hybrid concept at next year’s Detroit Auto Show.

Next year will see the launch of the next-generation RX crossover, based on the LF-Xh concept, as well as a new coupe-cabrio version of the IS complete with a folding metal hardtop.

The LF-A supercar is destined for production and hinted at a 2011 launch date.
